VANCOUVER, B.C. - The 2015/16 Canucks season marks the 20th Anniversary of Rogers Arena. Originally known as General Motors Place, the building has hosted more than 3000 events and concerts, which included 230 Grizzlies home games. The arena has been the home to the Vancouver Canucks since opening in 1995 and to celebrate this milestone, the Canucks will host 20 themed game nights that will honor the many memories that have been made with a series of 20 themes and events dubbed #20in20.
The theme night that caught our eye in particular is November 2nd, a celebration of Vancouver's former NBA team called "Grizzlies Night". Fans are welcome to wear their old and new retro Vancouver Grizzlies gear alongside the Canucks jerseys, to celebrate November 5th 1995, the Grizzlies world debut. After winning their first 2 games of existence, the team went on a 19 game losing streak and unfortunately never recovered, posting an all-time record of 101 wins and 359 losses. The team was moved to Memphis after the 2000-01 NBA season, never giving Vancouver a taste of even a single NBA postseason game.
Mark your calendars! November 2, 2015, at 7pm PST, Grizzlies Night at Rogers Arena! If you can't get tickets to the game, it will be televised on Sportsnet Pacific.
